Schedules and Bedtime

Well, everyone has been telling me that the best way to start working towards sleeping through the night is to start working towards a schedule…somewhat of a routine. SO last night for the first time ever at 8:00 Chris gave Aiden a bath, changed him…then I fed him and gave him a massage with our Bedtime Soothing Lotion. After that we sang to him (daddy played the guitar), swaddled him, rocked him, said our prayers and at 9:00 we turned off the lights and put him down in his bassinet. He didn’t cry at all! YAY! If he had i would have probably panicked :). Well, he didnt even come to close to sleeping through the night BUT once we get this night routine down the studies say that he will start sleeping longer. The key is to do our bedtime schedule the same time every night and to make sure that he falls asleep in his bed on his own (rather than him falling asleep in bed with us as usual and then us putting him in his bed already asleep). Tonight we did the same thing again and he did great! I am so proud of our little man! Now we will start working on our daytime schedules!

Very exciting!!!! Working with schedules can be a pain, but they are so worth it. Stick with it!!!! Let me know if you have any more questions. Hope that you had a great day yesterday!!

  2. That is niiiice! I hope we can start working towards that…mama’s tired! I’ve pulled him into bed to sleep several times with us out of desperation.

  3. He knows he is so loved and his needs are taken care of…he’ll wake up when he is hungry or needs changing. With such great parents….what can I say!!!

    Love you,
    Aiden’s grandma

Y’all do bedtime right! I wish someone would play the guitar for me every night :). Camp didn’t sleep through the night until just past 6 months, but starting a schedule early helped me becuase I knew when I’d be getting up with him every night! Once he starts sleeping through the night, you won’t even remember the times he didn’t!!

  5. Bedtime routines are the best! Good for you on starting early with a daytime routine! We’re on week 3 of scheduled naps… UG! 🙂 I’ve got a stubborn one on my hands! 🙂
