yesterday…

So yesterday Chris, Aiden and I were about to pull through our gate when we noticed a sign…then once we drove to the back we saw that a huge tree limb had fallen and broken a power line down into our yard. They are called “live wires” which means they are extremely dangerous. (If they had fallen inches away on our house it would have burned to the ground). A long story short….I packed up our things, Aiden and the dogs and drove to the studio to spend the night because I wasnt sure how long it would be until everything would be safe/fixed at our house. Chris recently turned his photography studio into a nursery/bedroom/kitchen for us so it was the perfect place for all 5 of us to bunk for the night. As I was sitting their (somewhat pretending that we were living in a small NY loft) I realized a few things. One is… if our house had burned down obviously that would be devastating but I realized the things that I would miss the most are pictures, paintings, books…. the memories we have already made there. Do I really need all of that “stuff”? I am happy…and what makes me happy is here with me….my dogs, my husband, my baby. God is so faithful to provide…I have seen it time and again. I hope that we can raise Aiden to have a kingdom heart and remember what is important in this world. “Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world- the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride and possessions- is not from the Father but is from the world. And the world is passing away along with its desires, but whoever does the will of God abides forever.” 1 John 2:15-17

  1. i love it! great post and wise words.

  2. It's like y'all are camping out together but inside…looks like fun! I always kinda weirdly liked it when I was a kid and a tornado would come and so the whole family would have to bunch up in the middle bathroom together. Something about all the people you love best in a tiny space together. You know it would be alright.

  3. Wow- I'm so glad everything turned out alright! Your posts are always so encouraging…I really enjoy stopping by here! 🙂 Your family is just adorable- I love looking at all the pics. Aiden is too precious…and so are the dogs! 😉 Happy Wednesday!
