from me to you

Photobucket

I have found some incredibly inspiring blogs that I follow and I adore this idea they have done. What can I give?

I don’t have money to give
I barely have time to give

what can I give?

Chris & I try to give our gifts….paintings & photography/videos…but what else?

I can give you pieces of me….parts of what I have learned, what I wish people would have shared.

So here is a tiny gift from me to you

on birth: I had no idea about early labor & complications after your littles have arrived. Emergency c-section, panic panic panic then when I had Aiden, they took him away instantly. He was gone? What was wrong? I didn’t even know what a NICU was. I was completely emotionally unprepared. This sent me in a very protective mama tiger- like state for a lot of his first year. Then I learned about sharing your little ones, letting them bless others. Open hands. They aren’t mine…they are God’s. He can take them back at any moment…my job is to love them, raise them, protect them. Give them confidence, embrace their talents and help their tiny wings soar. This attitude and emotional change made Ainsleigh’s NICU experience an entirely different one.

on being a mom: Oh the love….my heart is full. Remembering they are gifts. Also, remembering one of the greatest gifts that I can give them is patience. A soft, tender, patient mother is a wonderful, beautiful gift.

on marriage: it is hard & magnificent. Let it change you….God intended this. Forgiveness and love are not a one time event….they are a choice DAILY. Your spouse will let you down. They just will. Some will let you down small and some will let you down big…regardless, it’s your chance to love like Jesus.

on pain & suffering: let it make you better…not bitter. It is a beautiful thing. Melancholy as it sounds….there is something lovely about your hurt. I can appreciate my scars. They run deep.

on worry: sounds silly & small. But my motto in the past couple of years has been “what is the point?”….what is the point in giving into worry? Does it change the outcome? I have zero control over other people’s actions. I learned that more than ever in the last 6 months. We have control only over ourselves & our own reactions. This life is quick, worrying has no place.

on money: one thing Chris & I never ever argue about is money. We have completely the same view on it. It means nothing to us. It’s obviously very stressful when we are constantly trying to keep our heads above water…but it does not run our life. It will not decide how many kids we will have. It won’t create conflict in our home…. money is nothing. If I feel a calling on my life….I trust He will provide, end of story.

friendships: Just recently have I cultivated true friendships. What a gift. Allow God to place them in your life. They can bring you so much.

on passions: Okay, in the grand scheme of things this life is so short in comparison to eternity with Jesus. God has uniquely blessed each of us with different gifts & talents for a reason. What are you doing today to share those gifts?

would you share your heart too?

Casey, we've never met, but I eagerly await your's or Chris' new pictures, comments and now your blogs. Your grandparents, MamaB and I don't remember what you call your grandfather, I still call him Dr. Jones, but they are so special to me. I have known them since 1966. I see your postings and the love that you and Chris have for each other and for your little ones constantly reminds me of the exceptional people they are, your parents, your Uncle Scott and his family and your uncle Robert's as well. They bring back so many memories and I see some of Dr. Jones in Aiden, particularly comparing the baby pictures. It warms my heart to see how happy and grounded you and Chris are and what great parents you are. I miss Beryl and Ken, we don't get to see them often now, too hard for everyone to travel. Then I smile to myself thinking about the ticket we got for speeding coming back from your parents wedding in St. Louis. 🙂 You give a lot. You and Chris give a lot, you share your faith in Jesus and you share the love you have for each other and for those beautiful children. I only hope and pray that many parents can see and enjoy your family life through these formats and understand what is truly important in this life. You and Chris seem to have found it. God Bless

If only I could glean an ounce of this part of you. Your words about worry and money were timely, beautiful, and scripture breathed. You are an inspiration to many, I love you and am so honored to be called your friend.
