This morning I ran to the store at 7am. There is something so peaceful about the crisp, fresh morning air. I love mornings. I have always been a morning person. (Now I am a night, morning and all through the night person). I was driving thinking of the person I want to become this year.

“Help me Jesus. I need to die to my flesh and be a light for you. DAILY. I want to be patient. kind, loving, soft, meek, broken. I want to trust, no matter the outcome. I want to be interruptible. I want to learn to give. I want to be slow to anger. Easy going. Forgiving. I want to expect nothing”

Our pastor once said “you have to preach the gospel to yourself every morning”….it’s true. As Christians we know these truths….but to talk to yourself, remind yourself to LIVE them each new day is different.

Patience is such a beautiful gift you can give your children. I am pretty easy going. Yet I am trying to make a point to take my time. If Aiden is having a “it’s naptime meltdown”…the best thing for him is to feel my calm spirit…not frustration, not anxiety….just peace.

Jesus, make me more like you.

Someday I may tell my whole story. The story one no one knows.

This summer I found my faith. I mean REALLY found my faith. I guess we will all have some profound thing that happens in life that will rock us to the core. Life changing.

If you have ever said “that could never happen to me”… you. are. wrong.

Things happen, life is hard.

The beautiful thing about loving Jesus is that just when you think you have been robbed, he turns it around and gives you back more than you could have imagined.

Have you all read ” A Sacred Marriage”?….I think I am a bit behind on this one. I just started it. What a beautiful book and such a beautiful example of marriage.

“We can’t carry a message well if we don’t live it first.”

What a beautiful thing to love your spouse not based on circumstances, what they can do for you …..but loving them to glorify God. For some reason I think their is a worldwide misconception on what marriage is and means as a christian. Not to make you happy (although it will have many moments of happiness) but to make you holy.

It’s not about me.

On a much much lighter note….. SLEEPING

Ainsleigh’s a sleeper! Aiden is not:).

One of each. Aiden is a night owl, early riser, wake up in the night kind-of-guy. Ainsleigh….my little sleeping beauty. Such a funny little example of how kids are just born different. From day one with both…this is just the way it has been. Both had rough starts. Came home from the hospital. Aiden never slept, still doesn’t , Ainsleigh sleeps all night.

And just look at them now!!!!

Lastly, my ART. Because I have a husband who made it possible for me to be a stay-at-home mom…I have to promote my art! So here is my plug for the new year! check out my site, become a fan on facebook!

Here is a precious blog post from a commission I recently did for a darling couple! (click here)

  1. Wonderful post, Casey! I hear you on the marriage thing. It is not always easy, in fact it can get really ugly and nasty. Your faithfulness is inspiring!

And your art and your children are BEAUTIFUL!

  2. I agree with the book Sacred Marriage. We read it at the beginning of our marriage over four years ago! We need to reread it…life gets a bit harder once kids come into the picture. AND the fact that Ainsleigh is a sleeper gives me much hope…Aiden sounds a lot like Noah in that department!!!! I have to convince Nelson our second will be better so we can have a second:o)

Awww those NICU pics remind me so much of when my babes were in the NICU. It's so hard but you can't help and look back how cute they were no matter all the tubes and patches. Beautiful kids 🙂
