Any C-section mamas out there? Not to be TMI but any of you look at/see/ notice your scars everytime you are getting ready/ showering, etc?
Well, I do.
I love my scar. I love what it represents.
I love that long after my children are grown, I will still have my scar from my 2 previous c-sections (and however many more). I love that it is a daily reminder to me of the 2 little lives I have to take care of & think about.
I often think about Jesus & his scars when I look at mine.

His scars represent something beautiful too.
What about our emotional scars? We all have them. Some run deeper than others…some change us for better and some create walls in us.
Our scars make us who we are, don’t they?
“There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. For the law of the Spirit of life has set you free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death. For God has done what the law, weakened by the flesh, could not do. By sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and for sin, he condemned sin in the flesh, in order that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.” (Romans 8:1 – 4)
Nichole Nordeman
How did I get locked up inside?
What’s this that renders me paralyzed?
I lost myself in small pieces
It happened over time
I traded love for a heavy chain
Another link every other day
I pulled it up and down a mountain
It made me want to say?
No more chains
No more chains
Big and small, watch them fall away
No more chains
Big and small, watch them fall away
I wonder now if the choice was mine
The door was open, I walked inside
Nobody had my arm twisted
Nobody made me stay
The face of freedom can show up small
A tiny crack in a prison wall
A song that rises up from silence
A voice that wants to say?
I should let you give me wings
I should let you set me free

I once heard, "scars are proof that the past happened" – I love scars, too. I can only imagine the sentiment that comes with a scar from a C-section! Billy had to teach me how to embrace the camera when we met – I prefer to take the photos, not be in them. 🙂

I love my scar but not my stretchmarks! HA

  5. This is a great post thanks for sharing. No, I have not had any children yet so no c-section scar but I do have a few others. When I look at them I am reminded of what they stand for, and would probably not change any of them, most of the time. But, I can see how a c-section scar would be a constant visual reminder as all scars are of what you have had to go through to get to where you are. I would say be proud of them because each one has a story and is a part of you.

I love my c-section scars. Love them. Also, again – I feel like we write about SUCH similar things sometimes, it makes my heart smile. I wrote this just like a month ago: http://www.naptimediaries.com/2011/01/scarred.html

thank you so much for your insight about 'c-section scars'. i have two also. and i adore them. after i had my first my sister gave me this 'anti-scar' cream. i never used it because i'm so proud of my scar and what it represents. scars, like tattoos, tell stories and represent something so special and precious to you! …….thanks again.

I am a c-section mama and I don't mind my scar one bit….although I did go on to have natural homebirths with my last two kiddos. My daughter was present for those births, but she still points to my belly and tells me that that scar is where she was born. 🙂

  11. You are ridiculous. I love this entire post! Love you!

  12. You are amazing! Your scar shows a sacrifice! You would have given your life for your children, just like JESUS! I love you!

casey, i love this post. my scars remind me that i did experience pain, and that the pain has healed. they are a constant reminder of my past… i wouldn't change a thing. i couldn't be more proud of what they mean to me.
