loving your littles

Last night Aiden fell out of his bed. He has been in a big boy bed since he was one and this was the first time he rolled out.

I heard the thud, ran as fast as I could (one am) scooped him up and held him. Chris was about 2 steps behind me, took him ….carried him to our bed, turned on a movie and got out cookies.

I couldn’t help but smile.

It wasn’t even a discussion.

He was hurting, he was sad. So he got to come snuggle with us. Forever thankful that he & I see parenting the same way.

Long after everyone was asleep, I was just awake thinking about the heartache involved with parenting. It truly is a love I have never experienced.
You love so much you ache.

What I would give to take all their heartaches for them. What I would give to protect their every move. What I would give to soak up every tear.

It is such a window into how God loves us. Unconditional. unimaginable.

I will never have the words to adequately explain how much I love my kiddos. It is interesting because growing up you know your parents love you but once you are a parent and you see it from the other side, it awakens a new perspective.

Heavy on my heart today are those who have lost their littles.
I truly can’t imagine.

My husband and I were just talking about this today. There is really nothing like the love you have for your children…just imagine how much more God loves us!…amazing~

unconditional. unimaginable. i love that. it has been amazing to me all along how much more i have understood the Lord's heart for us since having babies. especially with my son.. it was one thing to understand His love for us when he was an infant but when he turned into a toddler who needed to be corrected and taught and strived with, etc.. His love for us and His discipline and correction.. it just made so much more sense. and i understood more how much i must have grieved Him over the years with my stubborn disobedience. it changed my heart.

Beautiful post! I can't agree more. Just celebrated my littlest ones 5 birthday and my heart hurts at the thought of my babies growing up.

Elizabeth Stone said, "Making the decision to have a child is momentous. It is to decide forever to have your heart go walking around outside your body." I wish as a mother I could endure all of lives hardships for them.

  8. you are a lovely writer! this post triggered so many hearted vibrations, memories of my own childhood and the safe spot between my parents in bed. i love that you two have the same unspoken way of instinctual protection.

What a sweet parallel. I think of that all the time. If I love jude so much that it hurts, how much more is the Lord's love for me? You put it into such sweet words. Thanks!

  11. The New June says:

Too sweet, and thanks for the analogy!
