Last year on January 2
I posted my New Year's resolutions...it was as simple as this: blogging more, painting more, weekly date nights, cooking more, changing who I am daily. Dying to flesh & sin.

Hm, I cooked maybe a teeny bit more...it comes in phases. BUT I started meal planning!! It helps!!- which a few of you asked for an example week of meals and I will post one soon!

I definitely painted more and started working on a few new things for my art career!

Changing.... still a work in progress.

And blogging more! Who knew? What a journey last year was!

You know, I was thinking...there have been points in my life where I was confident I would never ever laugh again.

I can remember one of those times... and then months and months later....I was driving home from the store and burst out laughing. And I remember saying outloud, " wow there it was"- true genuine laughter....and healing.

And that all made me stronger.

Then we lost Addison this year and as hard and awful and terrible as that was. I was stronger.

My sweet friend ashley sent me a quote this week about "beautiful people do not just happen"...and it made me think, a lot of the most beautiful people I know, have been through the most.

So 2012.... I am ready for what you have for me.

  9. I think it is so important to look at each New Year with fresh eyes despite the heartache and pain that may have happened the previous year...so happy to see you are doing that! The Lord has given you such a big voice Casey and I am so excited to see what you have to say in 2012!

  11. Good for you for starting meal planning! You will NOT regret it! I started doing this a while ago, and it's been such a good change for me. Being more intentional about what I'm cooking and buying at the grocery store has saved me a ton of money AND kept my family better fed:)

  12. Thank you Casey for your delicate honesty. It's bold to welcome whatever may come. But comforting to know the One who loves us more than we can understand is at the helm - and nothing comes to us that does not pass through His hand.

  22. Casey, so true... the people I admire the most, love the most, am closet to...are the ones who have been through a lot! You are definitely someone who has been through a lot and I see the beauty in every post, every word! Looking forward to keeping up with your blog this year and on and on!

P.S. Looking forward to seeing your meal plan...maybe it will help/motivate me to come up with one! I'm especially interested because we're on a tight budget and I think you'll have some good ideas on how to stretch out the budget/food.

Thanks for being willing to share the big hard things like losing a precious little one and the smaller things like meal planning! Much love lady!

  25. Casey, I think there is something to be said for goals, like they can be a good thing for sure. but i think there is something else to be said for "resolutions" ...all a resolution is is to RESOLVE something. Well, that takes more than "making up our minds" to do it or not to do it. It takes deep root work on our souls...change and transformation in Christ and refinement happen over time, as we continue to kill our flesh...
i am not a fan of new years resolutions b/c i believe in everyday every hour resolutions...

God has prepared your soul for the next year to come...He is constantly preparing and making us like Him until the day we are COMPLETE, when we see Him face to face, oh what A DAY! Then you can see your baby girl again---xo

  27. Thank you for sharing!

I typically write my resolutions each New Year's Eve and then don't look at or think about them until the following New Year's Eve. It's so exciting to see what I've accomplished on my list and remember the things I meant to do more of. Both things give me a lot of inspiration for the upcoming year!

(P.S. I love the way you're wearing the Texas necklace as a bracelet-it's looks so cute!)

  29. My word for the year is *simplify*, I had so many goals last year, but this year, I've chosen one word and choosing what I will do to make that happen. So far my days are already more open... planning definitely comes into play with that. Congrats on the meal planning, its the little things like that that actually make life way less stressful I'm realizing.
