coffee date.

null

We are long overdue for a coffee date.

Since I don’t actually drink coffee and have quit my dr peppers, Id grab a juice maybe?

I would invite you in, we could sit on the floor next to aiden’s big dino puzzle- he would be so proud to show you how we can do it on his own. And Ainsleigh would most likely either be trying to give you kisses or climbing up onto something.

I would tell you that I have a sono today (thursday) and that I am nervous. I would love the prayers.

I would tell you I have been struggling and praying about sending Aiden to 2 day (8am-11am) preschool next year. I would tell you how I don’t want to, I feel sick about it and the thought of it really makes my tummy in knots. Then I’d show you what my mentor said to me…and I would tell you that I felt as clear as day that God was speaking to me through her.

“The main thing to remember is that you can always change what isn’t working. You will still be his mom making choices for him if you send him. So I’d say sign him up now, and then hold it loosely. Maybe start off with one day a week. He is just going to be getting used to the outside world, other kids, having to follow simple instructions and rules. It’s good for him to have that taught to him by someone in addition to you. The pain in childbearing doesn’t end when that baby is born. I believe it is the gradual constant challenge to let go of our babies that hurts most. But where you let go, God holds on. Just try it. You’re not committing to something you can’t change. That’s my thought. It’s best to treat all our choices with our kids with open hands because we and they and cIrcumstances change so quickly. You’re just making a guess as to what is best but if it really isn’t, God will reroute you.”

a breath of fresh air.
it will be okay. I can always change my mind.

Sweet Danielle gave me awesome advice also. so nice to have dear friends who have been there.

Photobucket

I would tell you that a few people had asked me on the blog to elaborate about me feeling selfish in marriage- and that before getting married I would have considered myself an extremely selfless person. But when you live with someone and are committed to putting their needs first, and you die to yourself daily- you suddenly realize how selfish you really are. If you asked me what has helped me…I would tell you the book ” a sacred marriage” did wonders for my heart. It gave me a new perspective.

I would ask you about you, how I could bless you or pray for you.

I would tell you that my “baby” boy is going to be THREE in March. I really can’t believe it, where does the time go?

I would tell you that I have been so incredibly sick this pregnancy but that it is worth every moment. And in a strange way the sickness gives me a tiny bit of peace- that a baby is growing.

I would tell you that I am giving my testimony on Monday to a group of women.

I would remind you that you are beautiful and loved and that you blessed me today.

maybe another date soon?

Oh I love your coffee dates 🙂 Praying for peace to fill your heart today before and during your sono.

    Lots of love xoxo

  2. Lauren says:

I would tell you that I have never met anyone so beautiful…inside and out. And I am praying for a great sonogram today. What great advice your mentor gives.
    xo

  3. Beautiful and honest as always. Thank you for sharing. I need to share a coffee date with my readers. Again, you always inspire to be open and share my heart on my blog. I also owe you an e-mail! It's been too long. 🙂

  4. Allison says:

That last photo is just amazing. 🙂 Beautiful family.

  5. That bit about 'When you let go…God holds on' made me cry. Yes, pregnancy hormones…but also because I find it so hard to let go too. Really, really hard.

Thank you for having me for coffee. I will definitely pray for your scan this afternoon.

    My place next time? 😉

    Sarahx

  6. wildchild says:

I love that you do these. I'm definitely praying for you Nd your sweet baby inside. The sickness does mean good things I think, so that's encouraging 🙂

And I'd love your prayers for my relationship. We just got engaged and I'm so excited, but I want us to lean more on god. I suppose that I have to start with myself, but I'd also love for my fiancé to be the spiritual leader he's supposed to be.

I hope you have a wonderful day with your sweet babies and husband 🙂

  7. Mia says:

GOOD LUCK. Let us know how the sono goes.

  8. Laura says:

Praying for your little bean, and for the sickness. After having a miscarriage I also was relieved to be sick, it made me feel more confident that my little one was ok! Keep your sweet perspective on it, don't let the sickness get you down…just hold on to God's promises (as you already are doing!).

  9. mama foosa says:

aw that was so beautiful and absolutely what I needed to read.

Thinking of and praying for you at your sono today 🙂

  13. Rachael says:

Wonderful post! I'm not a Mom, I'm a caregiver for two little boys under the age of 3, and so I can understand, at least from my position, feeling anxious about them growing up and not being with them all the time. I can only imagine how it will feel when I have babies of my own! Thank you for sharing your story, I think you're doing a wonderful
    job:)

  14. Kristin says:

It is so refreshing to read that someone else has the same fears and anxieties as me! I put my son in a Mother's Day Out two days a week while my husband was deployed. I cried the first day after dropping him off, but he loved it. It was so good for him to have that interaction and instruction with other kids and teachers. I also found that because I was able to get household tasks done during that time, we had a lot more "us" time together, which was wonderful. Hope the sono goes well! That last picture of Ainsleigh is too precious for words.

  15. Cindy says:

Something about this made me emotional. Thanks for the coffee date. I'll pray for a great doctor's appt for you, Chris and the baby. I also jotted down the name of the book and will check into it on Amazon today.

  16. Shauna says:

Sickness is a GREAT sign of a GREAT pregnancy! I adore your blog, and am praying for a perfect outcome today with your sonogram. By the way, can't get over how stinkin' cute your little ones are!! -Shauna 🙂

  17. I LOVED "Sacred Marriage." it was the first book I read when I got married and I definitely need to read it over and over and let it sink in. It was such a hard book to read because it was so much of doing what's best for someone other than yourself. But I also find myself so selfish in marriage that I need to be reminded that marriage isn't for my pleasure but His glory. thanks for the reminder.

  18. Beth Ann says:

Wow, I am so behind. I didn't realize you were expecting…so please accept my late congratulations! 🙂 Will be praying for you and baby. xoxo

  19. goddessof4 says:

Your photos are so sweet!!!! I understand what you mean about being selfish. After marriage ( I have been married 12 years) I know I have put a lot of my interests on the back burner (for lack of time, etc) but somehow my creativity manifests in new ways.I used to draw and sketch before being married now I find myself painting every room in my home, lol!!!!! I know there will be a time when I can focus on me again. Good luck with your baby.My daughter had a miscarriage last year and now she is due in April of this year.I will be keeping you in my prayers!!!! Blessings ,Sara

  20. Krista says:

I always love these:) I go through all of those same worries with my kids…the advise you received is perfect! Thanks for sharing xoxo

  21. sending lots of love and happy thoughts your way, casey! Good golly, preschool!! I don't know what I'm going to do when I finally get those little ones of my own, I'm already freaking out over my bff's little girl starting preschool!

  22. Mrs. Darcy says:

Such a sweet post! I cannot wait to finally be pregnant, and I am sure I will be a nervous wreck the entire time.

It is also refreshing to read that someone else struggles with selfishness in their marriage. I might have to read that book.

    Thank you for this post!

    Aimee

  23. Anonymous says:

I love these posts! ….my thoughts and prayers are with you Thursday (today?)….all the best to you on this day…..you and the baby will be fine 🙂

  24. Mindy May says:

Wow … that was one of the best coffee dates I have had in a long time 🙂 Good luck with your sono and know that I am praying for you. I feel like we have a lot in common (i.e. – finances, being newly pregnant, I am 9 weeks, and loving our babies like crazy). You do have some amazing friends who say some amazing things.

  25. this is really, super, duper sweet. Now you have inspired me to go out and get coffee:) My husband and I just finished "The meaning of Marriage" by Tim Keller and literally the first nearly 100 pages are about selfishness (I always knew marriage would "find me out" in regards to me being selfish-I looked so "great" on my own!)
Praying for what God is doing in and through you-and especially for the wee one.
Google "Ted Talks-fetus development" to keep yourself in awe today
xoxo, Anna N (our wee one was due two days ago…)

  26. Hello sweet love! 🙂 I know exactly what you mean about not really knowing how selfish you are until you get married. . . you don't have to elaborate. . .if you're married, you just know! 😉 AND I can only imagine the "peace" you have by being sick. . . I totally understand that. . . It is a reminder that everything is ok! 🙂 Praying for you love! Tweet us when your sono is over and let us know how it went! 🙂

  27. natalia says:

I absolutely love your coffee dates!!! Praying for you today.

  29. i just adore your coffee dates. and what a perfect post filled with loving images 🙂
    xo TJ

  30. Love this date! I am so selfish too. I totally get that. Being married is hard. It was hard for me when I put my oldest daughter in preschool and hard still when I drop her off for first grade. She used to cling to me and wouldn't want me to leave. Now she's says, "See ya mom!" It's neat to see her flourish and change. We have to give our kids to the Lord on a daily basis. It's so hard.

  31. JWorthLow says:

Very sweet 🙂 I want to tell you that you are not alone in the feelings you have about preschool. I have tremendous fears about it when my daughter, who is 3, started 2 days/week in September. I wanted to her to socialize, but not be socialized, if that makes sense? I am happy to have found a really great preschool program and she loves every second of it! She wants to go every day! I was offered the opportunity to go a third day for literacy enrichment and we started that as well. My fears for her (and myself)have been quelled. It is so true that the pain of childbirth is probably the least of our pain as mothers/parents. Letting go is faaaaarrrrr worse.

  32. Andrea Ward says:

Ben will be 3 this month and we have had him in a couple different programs for a different amount of days. And we have found something he loves and we do too. Wherever you are sending him is definitely not permanent and he will make some wonderful new friends. I'll keep praying for you.

  33. JWorthLow says:

P.S. I am praying for a good sono and I agree with you about the sickness. It is an uncomfortable but wonderful reminder that all is well 🙂

  34. Erin Tagle says:

    Love these posts!

I'm so checking into (and prolly buying) that book.

I (too) am dreading putting my 2 year old in a MDO program at the church. I know it's best, but it's a total growing pain for me.

  35. Heather says:

Wow, what beautiful advice! Leslie has such an amazing way with words!!
I love having coffee with you… well, juice for both of us ;)… you amaze me! Love you so much!

  36. Mrs E says:

This is beautiful, and you sound like a wonderful lady. I hope your sonogram goes well today.x

  37. My OB was always thrilled to hear each time I saw her that I was sick as a dog both pregnancies. So I'm glad to hear that you are sick!

As for preschool, you are doing the right thing, he needs to learn social skills and have little friends, it will pay off later. While we are not in the preschool stage yet, we are right behind you. I nannied for awhile and when those sweet boys started preschool, they just flourished! In speech, socially and they learned SO MUCH! Hang in there sweet momma, you'll still be his main squeeze!

  38. Kassie says:

Saying a prayer for your sonogram!

I've been pretty sick with this pregnancy too, but its a good thing! God is with you!

  39. Kristal says:

WOW, Casey you are incredible. I follow your blog and I comment here and there. I see you on other pages and know of your wonderful blog, babies and art. I had to comment on this one and had to have you know I read what you write. Thank you for such a great post. I hope I am going to be just as great of a mamma one day. You need to know how special and inspiring you are. Your blog helps tons of women, I'm sure of it. Thanks for being you.

    Kristal

  40. Jen says:

What a sweet post. I love how you share your heart. I've had this post open all day, waiting to sit down & read it, but my babies have needed me, so first things first. But now they are all having quiet time & I'm sitting here with my cup of coffee & this really blessed me today! Praying for you and your new baby as well as you parent your other beautiful littles. You're a wonderful mama. God bless!

  41. Jill says:

I love your blog, and your babies are beautiful. Good luck on the sonogram can't wait to hear all about it in your next post:).

  42. Stephanie says:

I'm pregnant also (only 6 weeks along) but I read somewhere recently that the more morning sickness you have, the better as far as cutting down on risk of miscarriage. So, embrace that sickness knowing a little one is inside working to come out!! 🙂

  43. JessicaLynn says:

Beautiful post Casey love it =] Prayers are still going your way for the newest little blessing in your life

  44. Clauz says:

  45. Oh Case, this was awesome. I'm struggling with maybe putting my lil' in preschool this year as well and this helped so much. What a blessing you will be in giving your testimony to those women. Prayers for peace and that the Lord will speak through you and for an awesome sono. Also Elsie my little girl will be 3 in March. Too weird. Same ages, same love language.

thanks for always being so awesome.

  46. Hi Casey!

lovely post! Great that you have given up Dr Pepper, sugar is so bad for your health. You should also be aware that juice has lots of sugar in it too, so you might want to consider limiting that too.. Have a look at this post for more info http://livehealthysimply.com/2012/01/natural-sugars 🙂 Love Jess x

  47. i loved this coffee dates. i feel like were friends. Sending prayers your way for the sono.

And I would tell you that you are a beautiful and inspiring person! Your blog just encourages me so much!

"But where you let go, God holds on." WOW. That is such a powerful statement and it kind of just blew my mind a little. I'm totally jotting that one down for future reference!

    <3

  51. I wish this little date were real. I would tell you how much your blog helps me… thank you for writing about hard things like your miscarriage. My husband and I are trying so hard for our first baby, with no luck. My heart aches daily but I love hearing from your honest and faithful perspective.. you give me hope and remind me to stay so so close with my Father in Heaven. Thanks for all that you do.

  52. Darby says:

    Sweet Casey~

I went back to work teaching preschool when my Bella was just a mere 10 weeks old. She was even able to come to the school where I worked and I cried about it for days. As time passes and and I realized how much love that her teachers had for her I became more comfortable. She relished the attention from the other children and now has little friends that she will have for years to come. (Her teachers were pretty crazy about her too). I know as a mommy we think that no one can compare to us and we are right. When making the decision about putting Aiden in Preschool, find a program that is really family friendly. A good early childcare program will allow parents to stay and play, visit when they want, and participate freely. An open door policy will be a good fit for you and your family. (in fact I wouldn't settle for anything less). Start with 1 or 2 days a week and see how it goes. Don't pressure yourself or feel guilty. They are only little once. I hope that your sonogram went well today dear. Prayers for you and your sweet little bean xoxo

    Darby

  53. Casey,
I've been reading you blog for a few months now and I just wanted to let you know (if you don't already know this) but you are such an amazing woman and inspiration to so many! Your blog isn't just a bunch of pretty pictures and ramblings, it has so much depth, you've got some amazing things to say! Keep on inspiring the world!

I can so relate to being terribly sick but finding some peace in it. I've lost 3 babies and being sick would give me some reassurance that everything was still okay.
I love reading your blog. Thanks for sharing your life & heart in such a real way.
Also – love that last picture!

  56. I love Coffee dates. I'm drinking a dr. pepper right now – we can say it's for you. Hehe. If we were really meeting for Coffee, I would tell you how incredibly blessed I was to find your blog and get to know the amazing woman behind it. xoxoxo

  57. You are such a beautiful soul Casey. I am so happy to hear great news about your pregnancy. I love what your mentor said, it's so true. My baby just turned 2 on Thanksgiving, I have no idea where the time went but she went from baby to little girl overnight somewhere. Time just goes by way too fast.

  58. a sacred marriage was a gift to us for our wedding. It is an amazing book (so is the devotion, if you haven't read it). My hubs and I have gone through it a couple times together….I would recommend it to anyone!

  59. I could relate so much to your comment about selfishness in marriage that I didn't even question it. It was so sweet of you to explain how you feel. Thank you for your openness, as always.
