hospital & update.

Well I have sort of debated on how much to share on this pregnancy.

Mostly because I never want it to look like I am just seeking out attention. And I dont want it to seem like I am making a big ordeal out of everything that comes my way, ya know?? I had placenta issues at the beginning and then 2 weeks ago was admitted to the hospital… but up until now I just didn’t feel like posting about what was happening, I just really really didn’t want to make a big deal out of what all has been going on!

But I lay here, the second time in the hospital in the past 2 weeks and decided to write a post with a bit of an update. If I’m going to be true to posting about my life and sharing what is really going on, then I should share with you all what has been happening with our little A.

Today I am being monitored and getting steroid shots for sweet little Apple. The shots will help her little lungs if she decides to come early. This is the first time I have received the steroid shots and feel really encouraged that we are getting these because Aiden & Ainsleigh were both born early with very underdeveloped lungs.

I have a history of having babies early and this sweet girl is following in those footsteps, trying to come. I came in at 9:00 this morning for my weekly sono and my cervix had shortened drastically from last week. In fact my doctor said it was extremely close to the # of just needing to be admitted to the hospital with the order to stay (for weeks on bedrest) until she comes.

They told me today that I’ll be on bedrest at home until next Friday and then we will see a fetal specialist again to see if we have made progress. Besides the obvious prayer of Apple’s safety and continual growth…a huge prayer for me right now is that I am not admitted to the hospital to stay.

Eyes are welling up just thinking about it.

ahh.

Coming from someone who has trouble leaving her babies on a date night, I am feeling extremely anxious and panicky about the possibility of being away from them for weeks.

I  just might have a breakdown if I let my mind go there.

On top of that, the people who are supposed to watch our kiddos when we have Apple, can’t watch the kiddos until August 4.
And the last thing I want is to be worrying about aiden and ains with a sick baby in the NICU.

So I am hitting my knees tonight, praying for some sort of miracle.
Please no hospital stay and please baby girl stay put.
Praying that all of this falls into place as it should.
Or rather as I wish it would.

A few people have asked my actual due date- it’s september 16 (ainsleighs birthday).

Today was emotional. I want so badly for everything to go smoothly and yet I find myself here again….we have walked this road twice before and this time it is all happening even sooner.
I would be completely lying if I didn’t tell you I am just sobbing at this moment and am not even really sure why…just overcome with everything.
I tried all day to be really positive and strong and “everything will be fine” but as the night comes and I am tired, I am getting really weepy.

Just not knowing how this all will play out.

And then my sweet friend, Danielle, left me a message tonight where she prayed outloud on the answering machine and it just triggered a complete waterfall…it was like everything I was holding in just came pouring out like a flood. I am so grateful that I have so many people in my life who show me, tangibly, the love of Jesus. I got sweet texts and messages all day and her prayer just sent me straight over the edge.

Chris works from home so he can help tremendously BUT if I was admitted to the hospital it would be extremely hard for him to get everything he needs to get done with his business while also watching the kiddos…so I humbly ask for your prayers over the next few weeks.
I will be 29 weeks on Sunday.

Thank you so so very much from the bottom of my heart for the prayers and for loving us well. xoxo

  6. BethAnn says:

No, no, no missy – you will not be hitting your knees in prayer tonight WE will be! You need to stay right there, in that bed, laying down, talking to Apple reminding her how cool it is inside mommy's tummy right now. Oh sweet Casey – your strength and wisdom are so inspiring. You will be HEAVILY in my thoughts and prayers for these next few days, weeks and months. Lots of strength, smiles and prayers sent your way.

Casey my dear! I am praying for you!

LORD GOD I thank you for Casey and the life within her! I pray that You will protect Apple's little body, give her strength to grow and progress. Lord, please be with Casey's doctors and give them wisdom and discernment regarding Casey's and Apple's health. I pray that You will give Casey peace that only You can give, that You will help her trust you and rest in Your presence and YOUR grace. Thank you that YOU are forming Apple in Casey's womb, and that you are with them. You are great, and holy, and Lord we worship You now through our trust in Your sovereignty and will.

    Love you Casey!

  11. Marie says:

oh girl I am on my knees, praying for you and your sweet girl. Praying for her to stay put for as long as possible. I had steroid shots with Lincoln and they seemed to work really well (born at 31 weeks and he never needed assistance breathing…..so I'd say they did their job!) I know how hard it is to have a baby prematurely and I pray you won't have to experience that this time. Praying also for your heart as you journey this road.

  12. Hey hun!!

Totally know where you're coming from. I had no cervix at 21 weeks and spent 11 weeks in bed – some at home and some in hospital – and G was born at 32 weeks.

Thank goodness for great doctors and medicine – I strongly believe in steroid shots.

I'm praying for you all. God has his hand on you and the situation. He's work will be done.

    blessings Girl.

    Jac

  13. Moriah says:

If I was closer I would. Little Apple needs to stay put for a little while. If you are at home you will tend to do more than you should and then you will be feeling guilty for not doing more. Can you tell that I have been where you are…..but not with a baby on board. Good luck. Lots of prayers and good vibes coming your way. You and your hubby look so sad. ((((((HUGS)))))

So sorry Casey! I know that must be so hard. I'm thankful you know Jesus and trust him in all things. I pray that you will abide in him and be able to rest there. He loves you and your family and cares for your baby deeply. He weeps when we weep. "God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble." Psalm 46:1

  43. Toaster4JC says:

Sobbing with you dear Casey! I was admitted to the hospital recently because of issues with my gall bladder and the worst part was having them tell me my daughter had to go home and be apart from me. I can't even imagine what you're going through. That was 4 of the roughest days for me because I just wanted to have my daughter in my arms.

Praying for you and your family sweet Casey! Wish I lived closer. I would totally watch your kiddos for you if I could.

On my knees for your family.
Praying Romans 8:28-30 over you all. 28 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters. 30 And those he predestined, he also called; those he called, he also justified; those he justified, he also glorified.

Every thing we go through, although not necessarily good, will be worked for good, to bring Him glory.

May your light shine during this difficult time so that the staff at the hospital may see your light and glorify your Father in Heaven.
Continue to be that light that you always are!

  44. Casey.. I am praying…

Blessings all over you…. In Jesus Name I declare wellness….. for both baby and you. Safety for your children, Peace over your finances and your comings and goings….. I say to the enemy Flee..in Jesus Name!

Oh sweet girl. God is watching over. He knows when this child of His will come and she will come covered in His grace. Casey, she already belongs to Him. And she is already yours. You are keeping her close to your heart until He says its time. Until then we hit our knees in prayer, right?

When labor threatened my 2nd pregnancy after a fender bender, my sweet 28 week old boy and I grew with the Lord. I prayed (from the bed) day in and out for each individual muscle and organ in his body. It helped me. I felt like I was covering him… But God had the rest.

I will pray for your family. Keep the faith, sweetheart!!! HE IS MIGHTY.

  80. Casey,
You are such a tender heart anyway, and motherhood only (and it's okay that it does) multiplies that a million times over, doesn't it? I can relate. A good friend had her Calla Jayne baby at 26 weeks and Calla is thriving as a healthy 2 year old today. Their family was also laced with prayer and the Lord has used their story in crazy awesome ways for the kingdom. I admire your strength, your faith, your vulnerability to share such a painful/private thing, and myriad other things about you. You are constantly on my heart anyway, but even moreso now. Those thoughts shall turn into prayers and I already thank Jesus for bathing you, baby Apple, and all your family in his healing blood. Blood that is capable of SO, SO MUCH. All for his glory, Sister.

  81. Sara says:

    Oh.
I am praying Isaiah 44:24 over you all and I hope it brings you peace knowing that the same God who knows little Apple in her place under your heart also stretched out the whole heavens and earth.

Thus says the Lord, your Redeemer,
And He who formed you from the womb:
“I am the Lord, who makes all things, Who stretches out the heavens all alone, Who spreads abroad the earth by Myself. Isaiah 44:24

Praying and praying for you, Mama. I hope everything works out. Life may be hard, but God is good. It's good to let it out. Just cry and cry. He will heal your aching heart and will take care of your little ones. He knows every hair on their heads and yours. He knows you through and through.

  97. amy72 says:

i'm not sure if you remember me; but i emailed you a while back about your NICU story and how much it hit home for me.
i hope little A manages to stay put for a while longer – but just remember, every single day helps at this stage! every day she stays in is a couple of days taken off your NICU stay. and have hope that there is the possibility that she will stay there for another couple of weeks (atleast!) – my little boy stayed put for 3 weeks after his dose of steriod shots, and that was after me going into labour&waters breaking! so it's possible. it's really great that you got the shots; i think they helped HUGELY.

my thoughts are with you, take care & rest as much as you can. x

  98. Rachel says:

sending many hugs and prayers your way!

  99. BixiandGoxi says:

Thank you so much for sharing, so we can pray for you and keep you in our thoughts.
I don't know if this will help you (perhaps to get some hope): In my first pregnancy my cervix shortened in the very very extreme in the 27th week . It was a horrible time, but my son was born at 41 weeks, what nobody ever believed would be possible.
I also wanted to tell you, that my mum had to stay in hospital for four months during her second pregnancy. I lived at my aunts house and I have really nice memories about this: My mom once told me, that they did everything to keep my routine as exact as possible and for her it was pure torture to leave me, but I enjoyed beeing cared for by a strong network of family and friends (I hope I Wrote this all right and you get the message behind this story – english is not my mother tongue and it's hard to write my thoughts in another language).
    Praying for you in Germany!Melanie

Hang in there … so sorry this is happening but know the Lord has a hand in little apples life. He hears your heart and knows your desires.

That being said you've encouraged me to share more abt our pregnancy on my blog. I havent so far… because i didnt want people to worry for us or baby. He was found to have a 2 vessel cord tho and is now being closely monitored for heart and kidney defects. He seems fine as of now but its just weighing on me.

I had preterm labor at 29 weeks with my 3rd too, so now at 24 weeks thats on my mind too, wondering if that may happen as well. The different now is my husband just started a new job, he cant take off ANY time, we have no family nearby… so if I were put on restricted activity this time around, id be alone with 3 other kids to deal with, by myself… im not sure how that work.

Anxiety is killer in pregnancy isnt it!?

praying lil apple stays put til at least 36 weeks!
and you keep those feet up, as hard as that may be.

  110. Cathy says:

Miss Casey….Praying for you and that sweet baby you carry! Wish I was close to you so I could care for your other little ones and take all the worry away so you could focus on rest and nothing else. I know our Lord will supply all that you need.

Yay for the 30 week milestone and hooray for Betamethasone! I'm a NICU nurse and it really does make a difference.

  138. Rebecca says:

I am hesitant to comment because of all of the beautiful comments you have already received. But my heart is compelled to reach out to you. I have been in the exact situation you are in. When I was 24 weeks pregnant (with my sweet son who is now a healthy 12 week old) I unexpectedly found out that my cervix had shortened to a dangerous length and was immediately sent to the hospital and admitted for monitoring and steroid shots. Thankfully, after a few days I was able to be discharged, but I did have to remain on bed rest for the duration of the pregnancy. Each week became a testimony of God's faithfulness and goodness. I was able to carry my son to full term and deliver him at 39.5 weeks. With the help of many prayer warriors, I believe that you will experience the same grace. I really feel the Lord declaring a profound testimony over Apple's life. I see Him waving a banner of Love over her and that love is what will protect her. She truly is the Apple of His eye and I feel that God has given you previous revelations about the impact of her name. Hold fast to those words. What He has spoken to you remains true. He will protect her life. He has a hope and a future for her and plans for her to prosper. I am praying, sincerely. If you have any questions or need someone to talk to that has been in your shoes, I am here. rcgrace619@gmail.com. Love and peace to you, Rebecca

Prayers being sent up for you & baby Apple. Our son was born at 31wks and we lost our daughter who was born at 23wks so I know how stressful and upsetting a premature birth & NICU can be and the emotional toll on everyone. Holding you all in prayer for strength and that sweet little Apple slows down and realizes how great she's got it right now. Lots of love, hope for strength when you need it most and that you feel the peace of being lifted up in prayer by many ((hugs))

  152. Joyeful says:

Nothing is harder than being apart from your babies and worrying about the one in your womb! I am praying so earnestly for you–for peace and for grace, strength and comfort. And for Apple-that God is holding her in the palm of His hand and will not allow her to be born until it is the right time.

  153. Joy says:

Praying so much for you and sweet little Apple.
I just read these two scriptures and wanted to share them with you…

    Hebrews 6:19-20a
"We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure. It enters the inner sanctuary behind the curtains, where Jesus, who went before us, has entered on our behalf. "

    Hebrews 7:26
"Such a high priest meets our need–one who is holy, blameless, pure, set apart from sinners, exalted above the heavens."

    Casey,
My son was due September 25th 2010, we had him August 2, 2010. he was 2 lbs 7 oz. He was underweight for being 8 weeks early. It was an emergency c-section that we just "happened" to want another u/s to double check the sex of the baby. If we wouldn't have gone in for the u/s then they are sure I would have lost our little boy by my appointment that was 4 days later. God was truly holding our hands during that time. I know how you feel and praying that your little lady stays in as long as possible. He spent 30 days in the NICU and we brought him home weighing 3 lbs 14 oz he is now a little ball of energy at almost 23 months. God has both of you in his hands. Lots of hugs and prayers!

  169. Oh Case! I'm sorry I'm just getting to this, but know prayers are being sent up for you and your sweet family. You've got this Momma, or should I say He does. Hugs and love to you!

  170. i love you girl. continuing to lift to you and your family up to HIm! i pray that you and Chris will ultimately use this time to show others Christ and your hope and trust in Him. i know that you will walk worthy. love you.

  171. Gina Toothe says:

Praying for you beautiful lady! I had cervical incompetence with my rainbow baby (now a wonderful 16 yo.son). I had a cerclage at 19 weeks and spent the next 16 weeks on bedrest. I would have done anything to have my son~even move mountains! I have a good feeling for you Casey!!

  172. My baby boy was born at 31 weeks, in the NICU for 6.5 weeks. It was so hard but he's perfect and I wouldn't change a thing. You will get through this and your family will be stronger because of it. Knowing that you won't go home again before baby is born is the WORST, but it's so important for you to relax and hope baby cooks just a little longer.

I know I'm just one more of the hundreds of preemie stories, but I know every story made me a little stronger when I was in your shoes. Hang in there! Our thoughts are with you and Apple.

  173. Adrianne says:

    You are in my prayers!!!

  174. Ashley says:

Sending thoughts and prayers your way!! I know a little of what you are feeling. I was about 30 weeks when I was admitted to a hospital an hour away and I stayed there until my son was born at 35 weeks. I know it is tough and hard to even imagine being away from home and on bedrest but sometimes it is best. I will be keeping you in my prayers and hoping for the very best.

  175. You and your sweet family are in my prayers. I hope only good things come to you and I really hope that everything runs smoothly for you and baby A.

  176. Candice says:

    Praying. Praying hard.

  177. Jade Rogers says:

I had Placenta Previa with my first, and was on bed rest 2 months at home and 1 month in the hospital, and had 3 steroid shots since my girl was coming a month early. Definitely praying you don't have to do the same. The woman in the room next to me had it to, but had a child already- I know she wanted to be with him for more than the few sleep overs they had at the hospital. I can't imagine being away from my child, praying you don't have to.

  178. Geraldyne says:

I am praying for you, your little baby girl and your lovely family! Everything is gonna be ok! <3

  181. I'm catching up on reading after being gone for a while, so I just saw this. Tears were brought to my eyes as I read of your struggles. But, my prayers are with you, daily, pleading with God to keep both of you safe. I do hope that those shots help sweet Apple and that she stays in there longer than the other A's did. Hugs to you sweet lady, hope bed rest is going well…
