(We took these pics a few weeks ago...this baby bump is much bigger now!)

When I was a little girl I loved swimming at night.
Just when the sun was setting we would ride our bikes down to the local pool , eat dinner there and swim as the sun was dimming. The hot sun was down, the pool was almost always close to empty...it was just us there. And everyone's toys from the day that got left behind.
I loved that.

A few nights ago I told Chris that I really needed to get out of the house to stretch my eyes.
We decided to drive down to the same pool that I grew up riding my bike to as a kid .
I sat by the side & rested while Chris and the kiddos swam.
It was perfect.
They were so happy and I had a rush of emotions, that I experienced as a little girl, come flooding back.

Just as the pool was closing we put the kids in their pajamas and packed up the car. They fell asleep on the car ride home and I found myself wondering why in the world we don't do this more!

Do you like to swim at night?
Such a perfect way to end the day :).

  1. You always have the best headbands :) When I was a little younger and a little crazier, I would go night swimming with friends. Just like you described, it was always beautiful and fun and tugged at a nostalgic piece of me!

  5. I've never gone swimming at night! Some fellow cabin leaders at the summer camp I worked at used to always go on weekends and I never joined them, but I wish I had now!

  10. You are far too pretty.

& I absolutely love swimming at night. It's much more relaxing. I could also stress too much about swimming in the sun due to my glow-in-the-dark pale skin. Who knows.

  19. I used to night swim when I was younger & without fear but I am more risk averse now, Australian waters are quite scary at night - wouldn't want a shark encounter!!

  26. oh my word this is something Micah and I love to do. I grew up night swimming because we had a pool and now as an adult, as parents we still do the same except now we roast smore's, have the iPad going and night swim with the world quiet around us. Seriously one of my all time fave things to do.
