faith & fear.

Photobucket

I am not exactly sure where to start this post. It seems like I have written so many times from a place of fear. An outpouring of emotions that stem from being afraid. As a young girl into adulthood, how the nasty grip of fear has clung to me like a leach.

Tonight there were tears as I was challenged to move on from this grip. This grip that has shadowed me for so so long.

The dark following that tugs at me in different ways. It strikes me in a moment when I watch my babies sleep or before I step on an airplane to leave them for a trip. It suffocates me as I imagine life without them.

but then,

“do you believe God is who He says He is? Do you believe what He has promised you?
what would it look like in your situation if you were truly trusting the Jesus of the bible?”
She is right.

I pressed back.

She responds ” do you not know that the God of the universe is bigger than you?”

I do believe with all my heart that God is who He says He is.

I believe that no matter what I encounter, He will rescue me and never leave me as I walk through it.

The fear needs to go.

  1. Amen!! I think fear is something that many women (including myself) struggle with. So many "what ifs." But it is so comforting to know that the Lord totally has us in His hand and will be there for us no matter what. Great post, Casey!!

  2. Erin says:

    needed to read this tonight.
    thank you.
    love you dear one xo.

  3. Claire says:

I can totally relate as my blog post this morning wad also on fear and how I try and let go.how I seek to let God take control-it doesn't matter how long you have been a Christian its still hard!

  4. He is marvelous, and you are stronger than you give yourself credit for.
    xoxo

  5. Elizabeth says:

This post resonated with me so much! I made it my new year's resolution this year to refuse fear. I had reached a point where I felt that my anxieties and worries were holding me back and negatively impacting my loved ones. I've been actively refusing fear for a month now, and honestly, I can already see a difference. I am getting stronger and more confident to refuse to go down those dark paths in my mind. It hasn't been easy, but for me it's necessary and I'm committed to the long haul. I know that my God is bigger than my fears, and that's what carries me when I get really anxious. Blessings to you in your own journey away from fear!!

  6. ZADIN says:

I admire your sincerity and I
share similar feelings whenever I look at my sleeping son.
He looks so peaceful and I wonder what would my life be without him… AN IMMENSE VOID.

  7. Lou says:

I know what you mean by 'the fear'. It is the feeling in the back of your mind that picks away until it takes over.

I hope you are ok, and you have an amazing group of people around you, who support and love you.

God is good and he loves you……….
you can REST in this truth:-)

  9. Danielle M. says:

My womens group did Beth Moores study So Long Insecurity, which brought me to my aha moment about fear, instead of staying stuck in the "what will I do if _____ happens?" first ask the right question "what will God do if _______ happens?" and then walk it ALL the way through, and if you truly know God and his goodness, He will remain faithful, no matter what happens, eventually life will go on and God will heal whatever has happened. This stops my fear dead in its tracks. Even late last night as my husband got a call from someone saying that they were going to kill him, I walked it all the way through, God would bring restoration there was no point in wallowing in fear, when I have a God that is good ALL THE TIME! Hope that helps ๐Ÿ™‚

  10. Mary Sauer says:

Oh gosh, this seems to be my trademark–falling back into fear. He can be trusted, our fickle human hearts just need a little reminding from time to time.

Fear does not come from God. Satan finds our weaknesses and amplifies those feelings. Whenever you feel fear creeping up, know that it is not from God. If I ever feel this, I tell satan to be gone and ask jesus to come closer to me. I ask him to cover me with his shield of protection. This has always helped me…He is the only one that can give us peace!

  12. Meg says:

2 Timothy 1:7 "For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power; and of love; and of a sound mind."

Memorize this verse and say it whenever you feel fearful.

  13. this is so simply, yet powerful. you have a way with words and such grace with your style. AMEN to this. XO

i hope you know this girlie!

  18. Leah says:

I know the feeling too well. It's almost like fear has been a part of us for so long, that it seems almost a part of us already. Stand strong Casey, the Lord will always see you through.

  19. Amen! Our pastor literally challenged us with this same idea yesterday, and I desperately needed to hear it. He asked us to draw near to God, to let Him draw near to us, and in that one step we are choosing to walk in faith, not fear. Every step gets easier. I pray that you'll continue walking towards Him each day, Casey.

  20. Shannon says:

I know these feelings of fear. I am not a wife or a mother yet. And I already worry about how that fear, and the weakness it draws out, will affect me when one day I am. My word for the year is strength and every day I am seeing reminders (God winks) that say "Look to God and his STRENGTH; seek his face always." What can I fear when my God is who he says he is?

  21. Anonymous says:

    Fear. my number one struggle.

  22. I really needed to read this today. Thank you for writing and sharing, and reminding me that I need to trust in GOD with every single thing in my life, as hard as it can be sometimes to do just that. I believe He is who He says He is.

    xo

  23. Kelsey says:

Loved this post Casey! I'm dealing with fear in marriage and trying to overcome it. It's so hard but I know I serve a big God who has me covered in every situation!! Thanks so much for this…needed it today!

  24. Cristin says:

Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU for this! I needed this so badly today. So VERY badly. Its like this was written just for me! Thank you Casey <3

  25. Izzy says:

I have that fear too and the few times I've been able to let go of it, it comes back twice as hard. My faith is not where I'd like it to be. My faith needs strenghtening, and I know I will in turn become stronger too. Thank you for sharing your heart.

  26. Tara says:

Saying you aren't alone is in understatement. I know MANY who suffer with this same exact emotion. We are taught to be fearful of so many things and society tells us never to stop. It's making a choice everyday to turn that fear into faith.

    Thanks for this post ๐Ÿ˜‰

I struggle with fear so much as well. It has definitely grown in my heart since I have gotten older. You're right, "Fear needs to go." That is definitely true in my life. I believe God is who He says He is as well. Thank you for this reminder, Casey! You are a beautiful writer.

oh man…i just wrote a post about this that I will publish sometime this week. We have a Dr.'s appointment for my 5 month old daughter to check a condition she was born with…I'm terrified of the results. I've been praying and praying and praying that the Lord will take my fear and anxiety!

  32. Betty says:

I so needed this reminder. Thank you!

  33. Joyeful says:

Such a beautiful and vulnerable post. I've been there so many times and God is continually whispering to my soul, "Do you trust me? Do you trust my love for you?" Lord, teach me to trust.

  34. Leah says:

I can relate as well… The fear of "What if?" has been with me for as long as I can remember, but it definitely intensified when I became a momma. I posted this verse today on my IG account (@leahcoats) which always helps me know that no matter what, God is in control. "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths. (Proverbs 3:5, 6 NKJV). You are a beautiful person, Casey. Hugs!

  36. Nicole says:

I was dealing with fear and stress this week and I read a book that said when we are stressed or worried, we're not fully trusting in God. That was a major wake up call for me! We can't trust God partially – it has to be 100%. And you also have to know that God has good plans for you and only wants good for you ๐Ÿ™‚

  37. Ashley says:

Fear and anxiety are things I have ALWAYS struggled with, and now being a mother they absolutely paralyze me. Thank you for this outlook… we're in this together ๐Ÿ™‚
