coffee date

maybe a quick coffee date?

If you came over for coffee I would most likely quickly apologize for the mess…our front room is a temporary storage spot for airstream renovation items at the moment!
I would bring you into the kitchen, see if you’d like a coffee or tea. Aiden would be pulling out all of his pets to show you and bringing you all of his favorite toys so that he could introduce you to each. Ainsleigh would already be in your arms because she loves hugs and loves to have friends over and Apple would be crawling everywhere and laughing at Aiden nonstop.

I would ask you how life is and see what was weighing you down.

I would listen.

I would tell you that my heart has been so heavy lately and a few nights ago I literally got on my knees, cried for 30 minutes and soaked in as much as possible from my bible.
and it was just what I needed.
A long good cry and intimate moment with our Creator. in the quiet of the night. alone.
What is it about being so raw and so vulnerable that can create such an intimate moment?

I would tell you that Chris’ 168 film festival project starts today! and when that finishes he will be leaving for American Blogger. All so exciting!

oh and that he informed me last night that his script ( for 168) might entail us purchasing another pet.
So our pet count just might be rising again!
( right now at 2 dogs, 2 green lizards, a hermit crab, one long tailed lizard & 3 garden snakes.) I will let you know soon if there is a new fluffy cutie in the mix!

I would tell you how much fun this season is. Something about these ages right now are just so precious.

I would thank you for the coffee date and make sure you knew it was just what I needed! A good chat with a dear friend is medicine for the soul. My kids would probably ask if you have pets and if that is why you have to leave. and then we would all walk you to the door.

maybe again soon?

so sweet. thanks for the quick coffee date casey!
you are beautiful – thank you for being a listener… you don't find many of those these days.

praying for this season & that the LORD would go before Chris & his amazing adventure. that your family would be safe & the time would go swiftly without him. XO

  2. TOI says:

this would the best coffee date I've ever had with a blogger I admire so much. nice one

  3. Jelli B. says:

As a kid, I'd have loved hanging out with Aiden and his pet collection. I loved tree frogs growing up, and still remember the time my family returned from the county fair and found one firmly suctioned to my wardrobe mirror. Haha. Have a great weekend, Casey.

  4. Katie Cook says:

Casey, you are so SO real. I'm so thankful for that. You are beautiful and talented, but mostly what I love about you is that you just put your genuine self out there. It makes me realize i'm not alone when I cry out to the Lord, when I ache for things unseen, and sit still in the intimacy with him. Thank you. So grateful. Wish we really could have coffee one of these days:) much love, Katie

  5. Wish we could have a coffee date for real. This would be so perfect right now. I love that you are willing and just so able to put your heart out on your blog and make it real. Bless you and your little (well, pets included, big) family.

  6. Hi Sweet friend 🙂 I hope we can have a "real" coffee date one day in the future. I am so excited for everything that God is doing in your families lives right now. I think this season will be so filled with excitement and memories for you both. Like a starting point for some tremendous blessings 🙂 I can't wait to see what happens next. Love and Prayers to you xo!

What a wonderful coffee date! We always had a bunch of pets growing up (dogs, cats, hamsters, birds, iguanas, rabbits). Right now we have 2 dogs, 3 cats, a bird & a hamster. 🙂

Seriously wishing for a face to face coffee date much sooner than later. Also, please let Aiden know ahead of time that I'm scared to death of lizards…it's something we'll have to work through.

    Love.

I want this real, face-to-face coffee date much sooner than later. Please let Aiden know ahead of time that lizards are my biggest fear. It could take some adjusting.

    Love.

  13. That was just what I needed too!
Congrats to Chris! I'm so excited for this new American Blogging adventure!

  14. feels like i was just sitting down with ya'll! love! xo

  15. Can't wait to see more about American Blogger! And I would love to actually come visit and see your messy, wonderful, love-filled home. Thanks for always sharing so much of your heart with us!

  16. Loved this. It sounds like our home. Thank you for always sharing your self in such an honest and heart felt way. Seems like a real coffee date.
Also, When I linked up, my photo didn't show up so I apologize for that.

  17. Raven says:

You sound like a great person to have coffee with 🙂

  18. Leah says:

Sounds like the perfect coffee date! If I were there I'd tell you that I like decaf with a little cream and sugar. I'd tell you, or better yet, my kiddos would tell you that we love creatures large and small. (Okay, snakes scare me some, but I LOVE lizards and everything else!) I'd tell you that we recently lost our fish and my Millie dog (of nearly 12 years), but that just today I just made a down-payment on a Goldendoodle and that we're picking her up in 2 weeks and we're going to totally surprise the kiddos! 🙂 This would be just between us! Eli and Emma would tell you that we do have a cat, 2 hermit crabs, and an injured butterfly. We had 4 others that we set free. Abe would be wiggling in my arms to get down and to grab anything and everything possible while smiling and laughing at all the kids. I'd tell you that my heart, too, has been heavy, and that a long good cry and intimate moment with our Creator is just what I need as well. I'd tell you that I think it's OH SO exciting that Chris is beginning his American Blogger film soon. Then as you and your crew walked us to the door we'd share big hugs and probably talk for another 30 minutes. That's what we'd do if we could have a coffee date with you. 🙂

  24. Charis says:

Oh wouldn't a coffee date with you be an amazing thing?! My heart has been heavy too of late & there is nothing like wee ones to life your heart right?! Big hugs to you & yours 🙂

  25. Allison says:

Casey – you should just know that your blog has been an indescribable blessing to me. So much so that I have been back tracking on your posts, and doing a "reverse journey" if you will. Our life story resembles yours. Faith. My lack of self-confidence. My husband wanting to be a freelance writer. But most of all my crazy pregnancy, 6 week early baby, surgery on the little man on day of life 2, and a 40-day NICU stay. The emotion you write with gets me every time! I find myself AMENing pretty much everything, and also finding some comfort in knowing that someone has been in the dark places like we have! You are a beautiful, godly woman and I thank you for doing what you do! Hugs from MN!
