San Diego. Day one.

 photo photo00edit.jpg

I have so many pictures from my San Diego trip that I am going to post them by day. I want to document them all and remember all of it so I am going to spread it out a bit! I don’t even know where to begin, this was my favorite trip that I have ever taken with Chris. Everything about it was just perfect.

He picked me up from the airport on Sunday and I could barely contain myself after not seeing him for so long. He was standing there with a big bouquet of yellow flowers and his airstream and truck behind him. I just ran and jumped into his arms….I couldn’t get to him fast enough. I have taken for granted eating every meal with him, having him at home with our family all the time, the list goes on- seeing him was amazing. I had been struggling with some anxiety leading up to this trip. I can count on one hand the times that I have left the babies & with all the emotions and other things going on I could feel it getting close to spilling over the night before I left. Sunday morning I couldn’t shake it, I just couldn’t pull it together….still after the plane took off I had my jaw clenched and tears slowly trickling down my cheeks. I really think it was just a combination of emotions that hit a wall and all decided to come flooding out at 31,000 feet. At some point in the flight I fell asleep and woke up just as we were beginning to land. Wheels down and I couldn’t make my feet walk fast enough to keep up with my heart.

The moment that I saw Chris, it all went away. I felt peace and comfort and was just overflowing with joy and excitement.

We went to In-N-Out first for lunch and then headed to our camp site. We stayed at Campland on the Bay and I got to see how Chris does everything when he gets to each of his locations. We decided to get on our beach clothes, head down to the water to take it all in and then after that went to dinner. That night when we got back from dinner we made a camp fire and made s’mores. It was perfect.

There are so many things about Chris that are so unique and perfect for me. I am so grateful for him and so grateful for the time that we go to have in such a beautiful place!

I will post the rest of our pics and days next week!

  2. Katie says:

I know you had a hard timing leaving your sweet little babes but a few days with your husband has to be so nice! I am loving your pictures and so looking forward to more.

P.s. This time a part really does make the heart grow fonder. Doesn't it?

P.p.s. All this work will be worth it. I know it 🙂

This is so sweet and I can totally relate. Right before I became pregnant with our little girl (who is now one), my husband and I took a trip to Colorado. We drove there and camped, fly fished, hiked, sat around camp fires and had picnics by the most beautiful streams surrounded by the mountains. It's my most favorite vacation, by far and we've been to some pretty incredible places (Hawaii included). There's just something about simple accommodations and being a bit disconnected from the "real" world that does something for the soul….at least for me. I have so many special memories from our trip, as you do from yours, no doubt 🙂

  4. OOh how sweet!!! It was so fun to see you there with him on Instagram… I've been thinking and praying for you my friend there with three kiddos and no husband. No easy task! But you look like you had a marvelous renewing trip and I'm so excited for you! (PS… those pants are amazing!!)

  5. Megan says:

This looks like the best time ever.

  6. I love this. I have SO loved seeing your pictures (and his) on IG. Your love is so pure and sincere. Its so beautiful! I'm so glad y'all had a good time. I can imagine the anxiety of leaving those babies behind but what comfort seeing your man waiting there for you! LOVE THAT! The airstream looks fabulous and cozy! I think that would be such a perfect little get-away. Just me and my husband. I've yet to leave my son yet…he's 3 1/2. I imagine the first time I leave him will be when I deliver this next baby. Anxiety gets me big time thinking about that! But I'm so glad you enjoyed yourself. I cannot wait to see this film! He has such talent! You BOTH do! May God bless you on this adventure and may the rest of your time apart go super fast!!!

  7. i can't wait to see the movie! <3

i never leave my babies either and we're going to NYC for a few days this month. i'm sad and afraid but i always think about when you went to europe and before leaving you said chris is worth it. our marriage is worth it. our romance is worth it. 🙂

  11. San Diego is so beautiful! We've only ever been camping on the marine base beaches, where did ya'll camp?? I love all of the pictures! Those beaches look 10x nicer than the ones we've been to in Oceanside, and the campgrounds look much nicer, too. We're stationed in Las Vegas, but originally from Dallas, too 🙂

Your photos are perfection. It sounds like you really did have a wonderful trip! I think you've convinced me to add San Diego to my list of must-see spots.

  15. You've learned to express your emotions so well . . . it's beautiful. I could relate to this so much as my hubby was gone for a similar length of time for work as well. So glad you guys got some time together. Can't wait to see the product of all this sacrifice on both your parts!!

  16. Where did you get those AWESOME pants? I have trouble leaving my baby too but its important to remember who you are away from all the chaos, glad you had a good time.

  17. Anonymous says:

I would have cried all the way to CA too. It's SO hard leaving the babies – but coming home to their excitement to see you must have filled your heart with joy!!
So glad you both had a great time. You deserve it! The ocean always rejuvinates my spirit – and I can see that it did yours too from your gorgeous pics. 🙂

  18. These pictures are gorgeous and I am so happy you had a fun reunion with your husband. How cute are the two of you?!

  19. I know the feeling of not being with your loved one all too well. With a hubby in the military it's HARD! But, after being through a few deployments and continual trips away, there is nothing sweeter in the world that is seeing them for the first time after being away 🙂
SO glad you two got to spend some quality time together 🙂

  20. Marta Vodrey says:

Awww he had a bouquet! SO SO SO CUTE. Sounds like it was an amazing time. I think I need to go to San Diego. I totally understand the feeling of leaving the kiddies. My husband (also a Chris) has been gone only a day to the lake and he took our little guy. I can barely contain myself, I'm meeting them today, but I ache without them close by. I can only imagine what it feels like to have Chris gone for so long! So happy you were able to meet up!

  21. Bridget says:

so glad you guys got some time in. can't imagine how hard it's been having him gone.

  22. I can't believe you are at Campland by the Bay. My family stayed there when I was little and we'd go to Disneyland and the beach. Just the name brings back memories! What a blast from the past for me-thanks.

  23. Your pictures from San Diego are GORGEOUS! I can't wait to see the rest. 🙂

  24. Lynn says:

Your pictures are so gorgeous! I have so many fun memories at Campland. Just have to say that you helped me get through my husbands first work trip away. He was only gone a week, and I kept saying…"if Casey can do it for over a month, I can do it for a week" 🙂 I can't wait to see the movie and thank you for sharing your heart each day with all of us.

  25. Leah says:

Everything about this is beautiful — the pictures, the two of you, your words! Oh, me! 🙂 I think it would be so hard to leave, but I'm sure you'll cherish the memories you made for always! Thanks for sharing, Casey! 🙂
