a date with my boys.

March 04, 2014

Recently my sweet MIL came over early in the morning so that Chris and I could sneak away for a quick breakfast date before he started working for the day. I woke up and had gotten Ainsleigh and Apple ready for her. Aiden was still asleep when she first got there and as I tiptoed by his bed to grab my glasses he began to stir. I whispered, "Hey buddy, daddy and I are going to go for a quick breakfast and then I will be right back for a fun day with you." He sat up and climbed into my lap, cutest bed head ever, and slumped onto my shoulder.... "maybe this time I could come with you?" Just then Chris walked in, heard his little request and told him what a great idea that was and to hurry and get ready.

He kept saying " oh thank you so much for letting me come on your date and I am so happy you changed your mind!" It was the sweetest. Chris and I try to take them one on one individually but it isn't very often that we can take them on dates the two of us! I knew Apple would go down for her morning nap and Ainsleigh would get the morning with grandma, full attention, which was a dream for her! So win-win all around!

Are you seeing this face above? I can't even handle it!

Two of the most handsome boys looking at me on a sweet early morning date. We got chocolate chip pancakes and he beamed with pride. I could tell his little love tank was filling up and spilling over as he told us stories, asked us questions and at one point even sang a little song.

My precious Aiden will be 5 this month and I have so many thoughts and emotions about it. He is growing and changing by the day and I just could not be more proud of who he is. He loves so big and so well.  Also thankful for a sweet hubby that loves our kiddos in a way that I always dreamed of.

Bonding over chocolate chip pancakes, a pile of whip cream and the cutest little grin- it was a perfect little date with my two favorite guys.

  1. I love this!!! I love when they want to be with us! It is the best! I also love how his hat tips the top of his ears down. My Liam loves wearing hats that are too big for him (because they are "daddy" hats), and they tip his ears down, too. :)

  3. This post. I love it. I love seeing bits of your everyday life. I love how he said, "maybe this time I could come?" And that face in the first photo...His heart is showing in that photo. You can tell he is just one of the most loved little boys. And the one of you looking at him...I just love this. You two do an amazing job at raising your children. Love you.

  21. This is the sweetest! Oh, his face! What a gift - each of you to each other. I have a 5 year old boy who I am going to register for kindergarten next month (I thought it was today, actually, got us all up and ready and there...uh, pregnancy brain!! ;) Anyway, I just love the intentional and precious moments you share. One on one is always a treat, but maybe a double date is the ticket, too :)
