Building a Bridge.

What is it about fresh air and being outside that can just settle your soul? We needed a good lake day. It was recipe for good movement in our hearts. One of my best friends family has a ranch out in Athens, Texas so we went out for the day this week. The kids had the time of their life and it was all around a tiny slice of heaven.

Moments to just close your eyes, letting the wind and sunshine dance on your shoulders. On the drive home, little bits of sand still glided between my toes, I laid my head back and watched the sun hover over the horizon. We had good music playing and stopped at one of my favorite restaurants as a small girl. The moment I walked in memories flooded me, the familiar smell took me right back.

The simple things move me the most.

I have learned about a billion things over the past month but one that has been pushing on my heart a bit was the conviction of building a bridge. We all have voices on the Internet. We all have voices , big and small, in life. Some have deep hidden assumptions and preconceived ideas. Others don’t. Some are quick to ask for help or support and slow to offer it back. Some want to cheer each other on and others burn with jealousy. Some are quick to add their voice or opinion with the stance of being real yet not thinking twice about the hearts involved when sharing those opinions. Others are slow to speak and act in tenderness. Some ooze love. Others don’t.

As far as bridging the gap. We, as believers, start to separate into groups. We stand strong for something and then have no problem tearing another down on a different stance. Don’t we get enough of that from those that oppose us? Where is the unity as sisters in Christ?

I felt convicted honestly.  And a nudge to talk about it.

I picked up my phone last week and started this conversation with a few ladies. It was time. I want to build a bridge. I don’t want to stand in the way as I see God moving in their lives and in their circles. I think it’s important. I think the building needs to begin.

How about the start of a conversation? Should we begin building a bridge….

What sweet, summer pictures! I'm thankful for your voice, Casey πŸ™‚ Building bridges…

Yes, I agree. I think a lot of times its easy to forget grace as believers. Showing it, sharing it, even letting ourselves experience it in regards to building bridges. Especially as women. The Lord has grown my heart big for women over the last few years & this area of bridge building seems to be most difficult for so many. Love the conversation started.

So much of this post is what so many of us need to read. As women, we are our best cheerleaders, yet our worst hecklers in the stands. It's the enemy's pleasure when we fight against each other and take behind each other's backs. Let's not give him a reason to be glad it anymore. Let's stand together-united. I'll stand by you, Casey, and lay brick by brick and build that bridge with you. Beautiful post. Thank you for always being our voice. With love. Sister to sister…

Love this Casey! How much can the Lord strengthen us in this call as well. We can step out with His help. Thanks for this, I am going to be more aware in the coming weeks of ways I can do this as well.

  5. You can pick up your phone anytime and text or call me!!!! I love this. It hit me deep. I often feel I'm that one who is slow to speak or doesn't say what I really want to say for fear I'm being to "spiritual" in my actions and words. But is there a balance? Between being the woman who is truly in your heart, your spirit, and being worldly? Does that make sense? Is it okay to radiate christs love in all you say and do? I've been pinned as being "Molly Mormon" on several occasions and I'm afraid that that has stifled who I am to an extent. Maybe it's confusing because i shouldn't try and equal out the person others think I should be and who I know I was created to be. After all, we are all daughters of god, sisters, and He wants us to build each other up and bring souls unto Him. Thanks for this Casey. I sure love you!

I think what you are doing is so important! As a newbie blogger, I am amazed at all the good, Christian women I've found out there. There are so many destructive forces at work in our society; those with values need to stand together and support each other, no matter what specific denomination they are. Love this post!

So sweet! Beautiful pics, Casey! Building bridges can be difficult, but so worth it. Nice post.

I've been praying on a daily basis for God to work through me, He's helping me tell my story and share my journey through my blog. I was so insecure about sharing but I can see how much I'm becoming stronger and I know it's not my doing but God's because He's putting on my path amazing people who inspire me do blog purposefully. In my little I hope to be part of this building bridge. Thank you for sharing this, I love how you embrace your faith on your blog. Keep up the great work and of course I would love to talk to you on the phone on day πŸ™‚

    xoxo T.

  9. The enemy's desire is to divide and conquer. He wants to separate us because he knows that we are at our weakest when we are isolated. And isn't it just like him to creep in and attack where goodness is growing? It's the very thing he despises most! It is so hard for us as believers to remember this sometimes. We need to hold on to the goodness that exists and instead of getting jealous of the goodness we see in others, we need to join together and share in it. Bridge the gap. There is strength in numbers.

  10. Katie Cook says:

I've been praying for you in this time Casey:) This was a beautiful post, and I love that you listened to the Lord's nudging to share…the call for unity, deep positive regard and loveliness of heart are in order, and this was it's battle cry. Love it! xoxo Katie

  11. After watching you and your family on American Blogger, I am truly inspired by your words and thoughts. The amazing way you share your family, your hopes, your dreams, and most importantly your faith. This bridge is something that so many of us need to be better about, to not just talk about it but to reach out and do it. To make time to check on the important people in our lives and those that have similar beliefs with us, and those that may not. Love this post. Thank you for taking the time to bridge that gap.

  12. Laura Huey says:

Hello, Casey πŸ™‚ I found your blog through Shauna Hursh's and I've been inspired by it for over a year now. I look forward to your new posts! Anyway, I never comment because I feel like "What's one more comment going to add?" but I just have to take this minute or two to tell you something. I, too have faced some ridiculous attacks on my character and the most ridiculous accusations against my motives have been thrown. And they came right when I was stepping out in obedience to God. It is true that the enemy has no need in manifesting against us when we are complacent. But if you begin to really live, he will come in like a flood BUT God will raise up a standard against him… In my head I know "that we wrestle not with flesh and blood…" but man, it still stings! And I was surprised at how the opinions of people who I would never trust with any counsel or even to write my grocery list could anger me so much…. only in prayer and reading His word have I found my heart shifting back to a place of softness and vulnerability. And yes, I'm even building "bridges" between me and the critics now. It's a spiritual bridge built on prayers but aren't the only real and eternal things invisible? ;)…. I love your space here, the way you honor God magnifies the beauty of everything you write and every picture you post. Your steadfastness to Him is why I come here. A lot of blogs have beautiful photos and intriguing dialogue. But yours has our Jesus…..

This is lovely as always, Casey, and much needed. Thank you for speaking truth and convicted each of us to truly see the heart of another, as opposed to just a blog or a movie or a soundbite or an idea. We are each individuals who need and deserve love from another. Thank you. ~Jenna // A Mama Collective
